Internships

"The best part about Victory's internship is that the interns are fully integrated into the staff. I actually feel like an important part of the organization; that people care about what I have to say. This kind of experience has allowed me to learn a lot about candidates and campaigns and therefore helped me be a more effective employee."

About the program

Interns are an indispensable part of the vital and necessary work performed by the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Leadership Institute.

Our internship program gives the opportunity to gain experience in LGBT political activism, consider career options, strengthen job-related skills and network with leaders in local, state and national politics.

Internships may be used to receive college credit. Placement is based on the application and a phone interview. All academic majors are encouraged to apply. Candidates for internships should possess a general knowledge of gay and lesbian issues and the American electoral process. Potential interns must have completed at least one year of college and have abilities in oral and written communication.

All interns receive a modest stipend and work in our Washington, D.C., office in the heart of downtown, just steps from the White House, Dupont Circle and the Metro’s Blue & Orange lines.

Apply

Applications are accepted throughout the year for all semesters and the summer. Please submit a resume and cover letter as far in advance of your desired placement date as possible.

For more information about our program, or to submit your cover letter and resume, e-mail the Victory Fund at careers@victoryfund.org.
