Julia Boseman is running for re-election to North Carolina State Senate, District 9, having been ranked one of the top 20 most-effective senators in the state. Boseman is working hard to win re-election and continue her effective work in the State Senate and continue to improve the lives of LGBT people in North Carolina. Boseman was born and raised in New Hanover County, North Carolina. She graduated from University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and received her law degree from NC Central. Prior to her serving a four-year term on the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners in 2000, she practiced law in Wilmington for more than a decade. Boseman has remained a strong advocate for LGBT legislation. She co-sponsored legislation that would prohibit discrimination against LGBT people in the General Assembly of North Carolina. The legislation did not pass, but Julia continues to discuss the issue with the Governor who is considering an executive order. She also pushed for an anti-bullying bill that included sexual orientation. Julia won her re-election in 2006 against Republican Al Roseman by a margin of 11,000 votes. Al plans on running against Julia again and she is ready to lead a strong campaign for re-election to the State Senate.
