Mary Wiseman's appointment to the Ohio Common Pleas Court in October 2007 by Gov. Ted Strickland made her Ohio’s first openly lesbian judge. This election will enable Mary to finish the rest of her appointment.
Mary has been an active community member for several years, who has worked to provide free legal representation to elderly, poor, and otherwise disadvantaged citizens in 32 counties. She also teaches trial practice and evidence at the University of Dayton School of law as well as a course at Sinclair Community College. Previously, Mary served on the Dayton City Commission and led the fight to include gender identity and expression to the city’s non-discrimination ordinance.
Mary faces competition in her general election against a retired assistant U.S attorney. With your support, Mary can continue to represent Ohio’s LGBT voices in the judicial system.
