Since joining the Colorado House of Representatives in 2007, Mark Ferrandino has wasted no time in working for both his district and the LGBT community.
During the 2009 legislative session, Ferrandino co-sponsored the Domestic Partner Benefits for State Employees bill and the Designated Beneficiary Agreement bill, which expanded LGBT protections in the state. Both of these bills passed and were signed into law by Governor Bill Ritter.
One of Mark’s biggest accomplishments in office was the passage of a 90 day “time out” in the foreclosure process for qualified homeowners. The law gives responsible borrowers a window of time to figure out how to salvage their dreams of home ownership. He also serves as the vice chair of both the House Appropriations Committee and the joint House/Senate Budget Committee.
Prior to is his work in the legislature, Mark made a name for himself through his work in the state Democratic party and as a public servant. In 2007, he won the Colorado Young Democrat of the Year Award for his work for candidates across the state. His experience in the public sector is broad and extensive, having worked for the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, the United States Department of Justice, and the White House Office of Management and Budget.
“I am dedicated to creating a Colorado where every person has access to affordable and high quality health care; where every child has the world-class education they deserve and need; and where we have a strong economy that provides quality jobs with a real future,” he said.
Mark lives with his partner Greg, and their dog Dagny, in Denver’s Baker neighborhood where he is a member of the Baker Historic Neighborhood Association.
Mark is a devoted leader with the potential to achieve great accomplishments for the people of Colorado. Contribute to his campaign today.
