Having lived in Hayward for 46 years, Kevin Dowling knows what’s best for community. Now, the longtime city councilman and community activist plans to step up his leadership responsibilities by winning a seat on the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.
First elected in 1998, Kevin’s record boasts wide-ranging accomplishments. During his time in office, he led the effort to give local workers a living wage, brought more affordable housing to the area and fought to build Hayward’s first new schools in 45 years. He also helped create the Hayward Youth Master Plan, which brings together schools, county government, and local non-profits in order to eliminate school violence, reduce teen alcohol and drug use, and prevent teen pregnancy.
In addition to his duties as a city councilman, Kevin has worked for the Boys and Girls Club of San Leandro, where he has raised significant funding for vital youth programs.
Kevin has big plans for Alameda County once he wins his election. In addition to making sure that the county’s vital public services are adequately funded, Kevin plans to advocate for improved public transportation options, increased governmental transparency as well as expanded and improved health care choices for local residents.
In these challenging economic times, Kevin is prepared for the hard work that comes with re-evaluating county finances from top to bottom.
“We must all come together, share the burden, and work in ways we haven’t before,” he said. “We must take full inventory of what’s working and what isn’t, so we can retool or replace failing programs and adequately fund our most essential services.”
Kevin’s lifelong commitment to his hometown is rare and inspiring. Help this remarkable leader ascend in his leadership career by contributing to his campaign. Give online today or write checks to: Dowling for Supervisor 2010
