Torie Osborn has lived in the 50th Assembly District for three decades and has been a well-known LGBT leader both in southern California and nationally. She was the executive director of the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center from 1988 to 1992, and served as the executive director at Liberty Hill Foundation from 1997 through 2005. Osborn previously served as executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force in Washington, D.C.

More recently Osborn has served as a senior policy advisor to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on homelessness, poverty and economic development issues. She established the Mayor's Office of Strategic Partnerships that implements joint projects between government and nonprofits. She has been the Chief Civic Engagement Officer for the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, and currently is senior strategist for California Calls, a network of 27 organizations throughout California for government reform. Osborn received her B.A. from Middlebury College and also holds her MBA from UCLA.
