Barbour victorious in Rehoboth Beach

Tue, Aug 12th 2008, 09:02
Dennis Barbour emerged victorious in his race to keep his position as a Rehoboth Beach city commissioner on Saturday.

“I’m excited now because we can get back to doing the people’s business. We’ve spent so much time in the last year spinning our wheels and discussing things that really are not that important to the community, and we need to get back to doing what the people want us to do. I think this election made it pretty clear what the people want us to be doing,” he said.

Barbour edged out fellow incumbent commissioner Ronald Paterson by a margin of nine votes. A recount of absentee ballots did not change the results.

Political newcomer Lorraine Zellers was the top vote-getter in the election.
