Dallas mayoral candidate running strong

Tue, May 1st 2007, 08:58

Dallas City Councilman Ed Oakley, who could become the first openly gay mayor of one of the 10 largest U.S. cities, is reporting strong fundraising going into the final month of the campaign.  The May 12 election will almost certainly go to a runoff election in June, and Oakley says he's confident he'll be in the runoff.  Read more in the Dallas Morning News.

"We like his chances," said Victory Fund political director Jamie Fontaine.  "Ed has knocked on more than 70,000 doors in Dallas.  He has an amazing campaign organization.  But he's facing some opponents who are lending themselves huge amounts from their personal fortunes.  If we can help Ed with much-needed financial support at the end of this campaign, he'll be able to go on the air with ads, turn out voters and make the almost-certain runoff election."

You can help make history.  Go here to help Ed today!
