The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund has endorsed ten new candidates seeking public office. The candidates include Rebecca Kaplan, who seeks a seat on the Oakland City Council, and Andrew Martin, who is running for the Nevada Assembly.

Kaplan's experience includes work as a civil rights attorney, an outreach consultant protecting Oakland residents from predatory loans and foreclosures, and as an elected Director for the AC Transit Board. Her race is for an open seat and she was the top vote-getter in the primary election.

Martin has spent 20 years building successful businesses, helping public agencies responsibly manage tax dollars, as well as hunting down waste, fraud and abuse in government.  Already the Democratic nominee for the seat, he is a founding board member of the Sara B. Finn Dental Health Center, a start-up nonprofit that provides heavily subsidized dental health services to Southern Nevadans in need.

The other candidates are:
  • Carla Bates - Candidate for Minneapolis School Board
  • Cheryl Coakley-Rivera - Candidate for Massachusetts House of Representatives
  • William Hanauer - Candidate for mayor of Ossining, NY
  • Aaron Kampfe - Candidate for Red Lodge, MT City Council
  • Mark Leno - Candidate for California State Assembly
  • Jason Lorber - Candidate for Vermont State House of Representatives
  • Andrew Martin - Candidate for Nevada State Assembly
  • David Pierce - Candidate for New Hampshire House of Representative
  • David Roberts - Candidate for mayor of Solana Beach, CA
